When you are traveling, especially if you are woman, one of the things you want is options. Unfortunately your options are limited when you are taking nothing but one piece of carry on luggage. But don’t worry, I am here to help. Below are 5 things you can do to get more stuff in your carry on luggage.
Roll Your Clothes
This is an old school packing method made popular by the Military. When you don’t have a lot of space you have to learn how to be creative. Rolling your clothes is one of the most effective ways to get more in your luggage. Besides saving spaced rolled clothes also wrinkle a lot less.
Use Your Shoes
As we all know shoes take up quite a big of space. And unfortunately they can’t be rolled or folded. However, that doesn’t mean they are completely useless. You can actually put some of your smaller items inside of them. For example, socks, ties, jewelry and underwear can be placed inside of your shoes. If you put jewelry inside of your shoes be sure to put them inside of a zip lock bag first. Otherwise they will fall out and you may have a hard time finding them.
Close The Luggage & Reopen It
Sometimes you have more items than you realized and they just won’t fit. Or at least not yet. One simple thing you can do is close the luggage and reopen it. When you close the luggage it will help compress what is already inside. If you have a lot you may need to sit on it to get it to close. Once you have closed it and reopened you will find just a little more space available.
Use Travel Space Bags
I am pretty sure you have seen the commercials advertising the space saving bags. You pack your big bulky clothes in the bag, suction all the air out of it and you will have your clothes nicely packed without taking up a lot of space. Using these bags will help you keep your clothes organized and without wrinkles. You can also do this with a normal zip lock bag. You just need a way to suction all the air out.
Get An Expandable Bag
If all else fails you should consider investing in an expandable carry on luggage. The great thing about expandable luggage is its ability to double as more than one bag. It may start out as the size of a carry on luggage bag but it can expand into something much bigger. Some expandable bags can grow as much as 25%. That quite a bit more extra you will have to play around with.
Expandable bags, like the Travel Pro Crew 9, are great for big trips where you almost always come back with more than you left with. You will have plenty of space to fit in all your souvenirs. And while you may not be able to take it on the plane with you, it is still worth it because of the extra space you get.
